VIS, together with Ramboll and Ecorys, is supporting DG ENER in the assessment of the EU framework for the planning and development of electricity grid infrastructure. The study covers the identification of system needs, matching needs with investment projects, planning for offshore grids, and the process for PCI and PMI status. For each topic, key shortcomings and challenges are identified, and potential policy options to overcome them are formulated and assessed.
