VIS experts implemented this strategic study for the European Commission commissioned to Stantec. The study aims to strengthen cooperation between the EU and Eastern Partner Countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine) fostering alignment with EU energy goals and deepening the Energy Dialogue between the EU and its Eastern Partners. The study includes an evaluation of the current state of gas markets in the EaP countries, an assessment of the potential role of LNG in national and regional gas markets, the identification of barriers to LNG adoption and key success factors to be ensured for succeful adoption. Recommendations were proposed for country-specific and regional actions to promote infrastructure, enhance trading, improve competition, and support regional cooperation. The study team consulted with stakeholders in all Eastern Partner countries, to share insights on the EU LNG strategy and infrastructure and discuss national opportunities and challenges.
