VIS was commissioned by NARUC, under USAID funding, to support the Electricity Regulatory Authority of the Democratic Republic of Congo (ARE) to develop tariff calculation tools and data collection templates, for the calculation of electricity tariffs for mini grid projects.
Tariff tools were developed for each mini-grid activity: generation, distribution and supply, thus enabling the calculation of separate tariffs for each activity and end-use consumer tariffs. The data collection templates prepared, enabled ARE to gather from mini-grid developers the required data for the operation of the tariff tools. Data collection templates and tariff calculation tools were developed in user friendly electronic format, accompagnied by complete instructions.
The assignment included the delivery of workshops and training to ARE staff in the use of the templates and tools.
